Some Buddhist teachers insist that believing in rebirth is necessary for living an ethical life. Their concern is that if there is no fear of karmic repercussions in future lifetimes, what keeps hospice patients, for example, from overcharging their credit cards? I find this argument as sad as the argument that without a belief in God people would likewise be unethical.

Astral Projection https://schoolofloveandlight.com/services/community/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=community Mon, 11 Mar 2019 10:25:28 +0000 http://schoolofloveandlight.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=844

Astral projection is one of the most interesting experiences in your life. Imagine this scenario. Stay in bed, completely relaxed, with your eyes closed, but conscious. After a while you begin to notice how your body becomes heavier, almost frozen and then begin to rise, floating a few inches above your physical body. You look down and notice how you sleep in line. You notice a bright white rope joining your body. You are calm, relaxed and awake. It is not a new sensation and you feel a state of peace, of liberation, all the limits have disappeared. You look around the room and everything seems bright, everything seems to be life, more vibrant. Then fly through the ceiling and further into the sky and see how your house becomes smaller and smaller, until you reach outer space. You think of a friend who lives on the other side of the earth and just thinking you instantly help him in the house, you see him eating biscuits and spoiling the computer, and we wear one. Then you remember that it’s time to go back and think about your sleeping body, you visualize yourself again above your house, as it is incorporated through the cover and then into your body. You wake up and go to the computer. Your friend is on Facebook and you tell him what you targeted. He is dismayed when he tells you that you are completely right.

This is the astral projection.

This phenomenon is the process by which human consciousness temporarily burns the physical body and functions independently, while the latter remains passive in the state we know as right. The result is the visualization of the world from a different point of view than that of the physical body, by means other than the physical senses. During the astral projection you maintain a very high level of consciousness and you can remember every detail when returning to the physical body.

For many people, such experiences occur randomly while sleeping and are known as lucid dreams, near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, or astral projections.

This is a guided meditation lasting 30 minutes which can be done in person or online.

Pranayama https://schoolofloveandlight.com/services/pranayama/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=pranayama https://schoolofloveandlight.com/services/pranayama/#respond Mon, 11 Mar 2019 10:23:41 +0000 http://schoolofloveandlight.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=838

Pranayama is the practice of breath regulation. It’s a main component of yoga, an exercise for physical and mental wellness. In Sanskrit, “prana” means life energy and “yama” means control.

The practice of pranayama involves breathing exercises and patterns. You purposely inhale, exhale, and hold your breath in a specific sequence.

In yoga, pranayama is used with other practices like physical postures (asanas) and meditation (dhyana). Together, these practices are responsible for the many benefits of yoga.

But pranayama has benefits of its own. These advantages are due to the therapeutic effects of breathing exercises and mindfulness.

Hatha Yoga https://schoolofloveandlight.com/services/hatha-yoga-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=hatha-yoga-2 https://schoolofloveandlight.com/services/hatha-yoga-2/#respond Mon, 11 Mar 2019 10:22:18 +0000 http://schoolofloveandlight.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=835

Hatha yoga is the branch of yoga that typically comes to mind when you think of yoga in general terms. The practice involves breath, body, and mind, and classes are usually 45 minutes to 90 minutes of breathing, yoga poses, and meditation.

Yoga began in India around for 2,000 years ago as a series of spiritual breathing exercises. The term Hatha was first recorded in the 11th century, but it wasn’t until the late 19th century that it came to America, gaining mainstream popularity in the 1960s.

The National Institutes of Health’s National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health analyzed dozens of peer-reviewed studies and while most of the research was performed on small numbers of subjects, they found evidence to suggest yoga may be beneficial for the following conditions:

    • Anxiety and depression: Yoga can help relieve everyday anxiety and depressive symptoms, however, it may not be effective for clinically diagnosed mental health conditions. The NCCIH reviewed 68 published studies on yoga did not find conclusive evidence to support its effectiveness for managing anxiety disorder, depression, or PTSD.
    • Arthritis and fibromyalgia: According to the NCCIH, there is weak evidence to support yoga has benefits for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia.
    • Back pain: The American College of Physicians recommends yoga as a non-drug method to treat back pain.22018 review of eight studies by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality found yoga improves low-back pain and function with both short-term and intermediate-term benefits, and its effects are similar to other types of exercise.
    • Balance: Yoga helps to improve balance in healthy people, according to 11 out of 15 studies reviewed by NIH.
    • Emotional health: Yoga has a positive impact on mental
health and was shown to have benefits of improving resilience or general
mental well-being in 10 out of 14 studies reviewed by NCCIH.
    • Menopause: Yoga can relieve physical and psychological symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes, according to the NCCIH review of more than 1,300 study participants.
    • Mindfulness: In a 2018 survey of 1,820 young adults published in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, participants attributed greater mindfulness, motivation to participate in other forms of activity and eat healthier, and the influence of a health-minded yoga community to practicing yoga regularly.
    • Multiple sclerosis: Yoga has been shown to have short-term benefits on mood and fatigue in people with multiple sclerosis, however, it was not found to affect muscle function, cognitive function, or quality of life, the NCCIH reports.
    • Neck pain: A 2019 meta-analysis published in the journal Medicine including 10 studies and a total of 686 subjects found that yoga can reduce the neck pain intensity and disability from pain while also improving range of motion in the neck.3
    • Sleep: Several studies reviewed by NCCIH have found yoga can improve sleep quality and duration. Populations found to experience sleep benefits from yoga include cancer patients, older adults, people with arthritis, pregnant women, and women with menopause symptoms.
    • Stress management: Yoga was shown to improve physical or psychological measures related to stress in 12 out of 17 studies reviewed, according to NCCIH.

Angel Healing https://schoolofloveandlight.com/services/angel-healing/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=angel-healing https://schoolofloveandlight.com/services/angel-healing/#respond Mon, 11 Mar 2019 10:21:19 +0000 http://schoolofloveandlight.com/?post_type=cpt_services&p=832
When someone comes to me for an angel card reading, which I provide via Skype or email in half-hour or one-hour slots, they’re often at a crossroads in their life or trying to move forward in some area.

The most common area asked about is relationships – especially ‘How can I find my soulmate?’ or ‘Should I stay or should I go?’ – closely followed by career guidance and general questions about finding purpose in life. To get the answers, I tune into clients’ guardian angels (yes, everyone has them) then shuffle the cards; the ones that jump out, or that are on top when the angels tell me to stop shuffling, are the right messages for that client. Don’t ask me how this works – it just does.

The angel cards I use in my work are similar to tarot cards, but without the spooky connotations, such as that infamous death card which has been popularised on so many TV shows. Instead, the messages are encouraging and helpful.

Crucially, angel cards don’t predict the future – which is another misconception I encounter frequently (along with cliched jokes about picking the winning lottery numbers… yawn). And actually, that’s the reason I work with angel cards.

They accurately – and sometimes freakily – reflect what’s going on in a client’s life, especially the things they haven’t fully accepted themselves yet, but still give people licence to make their own decisions. Nothing is set in stone, and the future is something you create yourself, which is very empowering.

Kundalini yoga is a form of yoga that involves chanting, singing, breathing exercises, and repetitive poses.

Its purpose is to activate your Kundalini energy, or shakti. This is a spiritual energy that’s said to be located at the base of your spine.

As Kundalini yoga awakens this energy, it’s supposed to enhance your awareness and help you move past your ego. Sometimes, the practice is also called “yoga of awareness.”

Although Kundalini yoga is practiced around the world, its origin is unknown. The concept of Kundalini energy has been around for centuries and was mentioned in ancient Vedic texts from 1,000 B.C.

Kundalini yoga is most associated with Yogi Bhajan, a yoga teacher from Pakistan. He’s credited with introducing the practice to Western countries in the 1960s.

The term “Kundalini” comes from the Sanskrit word “kundal,” which means “circular.” It also refers to a coiled snake. And according to practitioners, Kundalini energy is like that coiled snake: It sits at the base of your spine, sleeping and unaroused.

Kundalini yoga is practiced to activate this energy, which allows it to move up and through the chakras along your spine.
